Race 3 on the card from Ballarat is a race well worth entertaining as a very big value betting affair.
We have found two runners here both at considerable double figure odds that are worth nibbling at and they are Concrete which is 14.0 / 4.2 and the major one of interest but it is also worth nibbling at debut runner Subrunner which is the a massive price of 46.0 / 12.0.
We will back them both each way with more money weighted towards Concrete.
Concrete is a superbly bred colt by Fastnet Rock out of a Bel Esprit mare who was a very impressive wide margin winner hewrself on debut before going amiss at 2nd career start ending her career early.
Concrete is having its 3rd start here and on debut looked well above average and potential stakes class when flashing big closing pars to finish 3rd to Messerschmitt and Ben Hercules before being tried in the Listed Talindert, forgive run, has the experience and run on the board to a degree and looks a natural improver with significant scope for more. Will be in it for a long way and the 14.0 / 4.2 is definite overs.
Subrunner is on debut here at the massive odds of 46.0 / 12.0 and it is very difficult to see why they have put this 2yo Sebring colt up such a long price. He is out of a Testa Rossa mare who won 3 of her first 4 starts including at Listed level, admittedly the pedigree does suggest looking for slightly further but with a hot front end speed here there is no reason he cant be closing off hard in deep stretch, the knockout chance!
