Follow us live here across Saturday as we update you through the day with some of the better value betting angles.
Caulfield R1 #6 Not Only Florina 6.50 / 2.30 – having 1st start for Hayes over from France, Vichy 1600m win has thrown up numerous subsequent winners to suggest stakes quality on the make, bred to be smart by Makfi out of a Monsun mare, gets in well weighted vs other seen major chances, goes around at the good price of 6.50 / 2.30. Top rated as a 4.50 chance, minor overs on offer, back with decent confidence on an each way basis.
Gilgandra R1 #4 Shintastic 7.00 / 2.40 & #9 Special Strike 9.00 / 2.80 – this is an overly weak race as can be expected for a $10K maiden at Gilgandra on a Saturday and these 2 are still both relatively lightly raced well bred types that have shown enough in their form profiles to suggest they are capable of winning a stronger $20K maiden, back both to win for a result across the race, decent confidence betting race, fairly sure one of the 2 of them will step up.
Caulfield R2 #1 Risque 9.00 / 2.80 & #8 Modern Wonder 9.50 / 2.90 – we were initially keen on Risque when it was set to take on Lankan Rupee in the Spring Stakes at Morphettville and instead Hayes brings the Darci Brahma Australian Guineas 3rd here for an easier assignment, hard to go past as the class runner top elect, also worth backing the well bred Snitzel 4yo mare Modern Wonder from the Corstens yard, has only faced the starter 8 times and has good scope for more, showed was stakes class with a good 2nd to Brugal Reward in the G3 Typhoon Tracey 4 starts ago, a stakes horse is what is needed to win this race these 2 fit the bill, back both with a bit of confidence for a result across the race.
Narrandera R1 #4 Hay Boys 12.00 / 2.70 – overly well bred type by Helmet out of a Tale Of The Cat mare, gets blinkers 1st time having 4th career start, debut 4th at Wagga when trying to make all is a deceivingly strong form race for such a weak race as this one is, odds-on fav Divine Stryke is having its 16th start, classic no winner, very good value about Hay Boys at 12.00 / 2.70 as a solid each way prospect.
Kembla Grange R4 #4 Island Missile 5.50 & #2 Tamarack 5.00 – the short priced favorite here is Luvaluva and it was a wide margin on debut and we feel it may have been fluked and flattered to a degree and it takes on 2 lightly raced improvers that are well bred in the form of Island Missile and Tamarack, there is now way Luvaluva should be 2.80 compared to 5.00+ about Island Missile and Tamarack, back both to win for a result across the race, strong value angle to play.
Seymour R4 #13 Zheng Fei 6.50 / 2.40 & #11 Court In Camera 10.00 / 3.40 – both these runners come through a hot form race when 3rd and 5th to Regal Embrace respectively at Pakenham on 30 July, we have a high opion of Regal Embrace despite it failing last start, Court In Cameras also produced a big merit trial 2nd prior to debut where it and the 1st one home put a 9l margin back to 3rd, Zheng Fei and Court In Camera can both be backed to win with a decent degree of confidence for a good collect across the race.
Morphettville R4 #2 Federal Court 11.00 / 3.20 – well bred type by Star Witness out of a smart Fusaichi Pegasus mare, ran a big trial 2nd to I Am Zelady with a big margin to 3rd over a smart one in 3rd that day suggesting ready to peak on return, winner or 2nd 6 of 13 and may be stakes class, if that is so then this will be a stepping stone, goes around at great each way odds of 11.00 / 3.20.
Doomben R7 #9 Our Story 10.00 / 2.80 & #12 Zoff The World 13.00 / 3.40 – very good value angle race to be playing, both of these are lightly raced improvers in well weighted with good scope for more and both are bred to excel over this sort of trip, this is overall a weak race for the tag on offer and we can back both of these at the double figure odds for a good value result across the race.
