With Spring really kicking into gear we are starting to see a lot of well bred horses resuming and this is generally an angle that can throw up some extremely good value. Our #BredToWin segments are designed to highlight value runners who have merit in their profiles to say they are ready to reason for one reason or another and plenty of times more than just one reason!
Balaklava R3 #10 Myriads 6.00 / 1.80 – very well bred by Bernardini out of the superbly related Torrential mare Ekali who herself is a daughter of the G3 winning Danehill mare Compulsion who annexed the G3 Blue Diamond Preview, 3rd dam is the Australasian top filly on the 90-91 2yo classification and herself a multiple blacktype producer, gets blinkers 1st time on the back of a very good trial 2nd beaten 3.5l by Love Club putting huge gaps back to the rest, form out of the trial stands up, big chance of overturning the odds-on fav La La Luchie, we have Myriads top rated as a 4.00 chance so the 6.00 on offer is good overs and definitely worth backing with some degree of confidence.
Balaklava R4 #15 Love Club 17.00 / 5.00 (scratched) – deceivingly well bred by Denman out of a Pentire mare, 2nd dam is the high class NZ bred G2 Emancipation Stakes winner Beat The Fade who was also 2nd in the G1 Coolmore Classic and 3rd in the One Thousand Guineas, comes into this race 2nd up from a spell after finishing 5.7l off potential well above averahe trype Wallace Street, won a trial by big spaces prior to that (Myriads 2nd, engaged R3 which we are also backing) and form out of that trial suggest may infact be well up to the likes of Wallace Street, form franked in trial from numerous angles, warrants each way support on that basis at the big odds of 17.00 / 5.00.
Belmont R2 #2 Hoodlum Thunder 27.00 / 5.50 – deceivingly well bred for this sort of trip despite being on debut, by Blackfriars out of a Metal Storm mare, seemed to finally click under trial conditions having last trial when 2nd to 4 time trial winner Chisano with good margins further back to other good form reference horses suggesting well up to winning a maiden over this sort of trip considering from a breeding perspective this only will only continue to improve out to this sort of trip and further, goes around at the crazy price of 27.00 / 5.50, warrants each way support.
Doomben R5 #1 Heat Shield 26.00 / 7.00 – very well bred type by Northern Meteor out of the Flying Spur mare Tara’s Spur who traces back to blue hen Denise’s Joy, 2nd dam is the high class Vain mare Joie De Vivre, comes into this race 2nd up from a spell on the back of a forgettable effort 1st up, prefer to go on high merit trial win prior over Skyscraper and Star Adele, form refs out of that trial read strong, well drawn to secure a perfect stalking trip from midfield and will totally appreciate the 1350m on the bigger Doomben track, if it brings that recent trial winning form here it will shake the life out of this race at big double figure odds.
