As the Spring starts to hot up we are keen to seek out a bit of #BigValue around Australia on Saturday. Lets see what we can give our faithful followers a leg up into across Saturday.
Coleraine R1 #9 Bank On This 34.00 / 7.00 – good speed pedigree by Lope De Vega out of a Rory’s Jester mare, showed that speed seen in its pedigree page on debut when trying to make all on the front end in a strong race at Ballarat over 1000m on 13 July, if it shows that same front end speed here it may well give them something to run down with the 2kg claimer Lucinda Doodt up, gets in superbly weighted with only 52kg, warrants minor each way support at the big price on offer of 34.00 / 7.00.
Belmont R1 #14 Maiwald 41.00 / 11.00 – tried to make all at Northam last time out and not disgraced close up 1.7l 5th behind Amber’s Duke, drops back to a more suitable 1400m trip here, both trials wins suggest well up to winning a maiden at this tag level, bred to be smart by Poet’s Voice (Dubawi) out of a Lujain mare, drawn the inside gate to secure an easy on pace trip, shouldnt have to work too hard early, might give them something to run down in deep stretch at big odds.
Cairns R6 #3 Hitch ‘Em Up 10.00 / 3.30 – overly well bred type by Hinchinbrook out of an Encosta De Lago mare, tried to make all last time out over 1250m battling on for a strong 2nd beaten 0.8l by Vaunting, form refs out of the race strong, significant rise in the weights but likely to secure one of the runs of the race, back to level it showed winning over 1400m at Townsville 4 starts ago when took a sit, adaptable type who warrants each way support at the 10.00 / 3.30 on offer.
Doomben R7 #12 Jackpot 13.00 / 4.00 – decently bred type by Volksraad out of a Catcher In The Rye mare, winner now 4 of 17 in short career including a mark of 7-2-4 over this distance, made a mess of them at the Gold Coast 2 starts ago winning by a widening 3l margin after making all, form refs out of that race very good, 3rd and 4th home won next time out, total forgive run l/start (apprentice error), gets senior jockey now and gets in well weighted with only 54kg, draws down well in the 4 alley, ticks a few boxes for a 13.00 / 4.00 chance, warrants each way backing.
Doomben R8 #7 Rock ‘N’ Summer 12.00 / 3.80 – very well bred type by Fastnet Rock out of the unraced Distorted Humor mare Summer Laughter who herself is a daughter of multiple stakes winner Dream Of Summer who has also thrown 2 other Group 1 winners in her own right, comes into this race on the back of winning on debut over this track and distance when making all to hold sway over Dansez by 0.4l, Dansez came out and won next start as did 4th home, also won 2 trials impressively prior to debut, drawn well in the 8 alley with Jim Byrne engaged to secure a good trip, scope for plenty more being so well bred, also gets blinkers 1st time, ticks a fair few boxes for a 12.00 / 3.80 chance
Doomben R8 #8 Too Easy Bro 13.00 / 4.00 – deceivingly well bred type by All Too Hard out of a high class Ashkalani mare, sire seems to throw types that get better into their 3yo season and this one seems to be a fair bit in that mold, has form references out of its debut win 2 starts ago to suggest it rates on par with Rock ‘N’ Summer which we have as another very serious chance in this race at very similar odds, must be included on that basis at the good each way odds of 13.00 / 4.00.
Gold Coast R8 #3 Alastriona 10.00 / 3.20 – deceivingly well bred type by Pluck out of a Zedative mare, showed above average ability breaking maiden tag over 1200m on this track 3 starts ago, was doing its best work on the line that day suggesting scope for more over further, total forgive run last start when didnt come on behind Heart Of Australia who finished 2nd to it when breaking its maiden tag 2 starts prior, stretches out to 1400m for the 1st time, potential new career peak but only needs to hit maiden level win form here to shake the life out of this at double figure odds.
Casino R2 #5 Bonny Brie 10.00 / 3.10 – lightly tried 4yo mare with a decent pedigree by Benfica out of a Cape Cross mare, comes into this 3rd up dropping into weakest company it has faced so far in short 3 start career, trial form prior to the start of this prep suggests it is well above the level required to win here, this is a very weak race overall lacking any form of depth, in essence a very winnable affair, back each way at the good odds of 10.00 / 3.10, if the real Bonny Brie shows up it will win with a bit in hand.
Morphettville R5 #2 Eigelstein 17.00 / 4.40 – there is no doubting the short priced fav The Willybe does look well placed but his most recent 2 starts have been questionable suggesting he is a risk at the short price, Eigelstein comes off a wide margin Roxbury Cup win that lines up very well back to this company, if he brings that form here the 10yo Dubawi gelding might prove hard to hold out at the good double figure odds, warrants minor each way support.
Morphettville R5 #12 Hippogriff 26.00 / 6.00 – overly well bred type by Redoute’s Choice out of the well related Encosta De Lago mare Fashion, suggested above average ability breaking mdn tag at Gawler 4 starts ago and got back to somewhere near that level close up 3rd to SAsun l/start over 2025m, drops 2kg into this and still lightly raced as a staying prospect with decent scope for more having only faced the starter 10 times, represents the astute Phillip Stokes yard and Dom Torneur stays on, goes around at the big odds of 26.00 / 6.00, warrants each way support.
