The astute Robbie Griffiths yard may have slipped this one under the guard of most punters but we’ve done the hard work and have found this big value chance in Race 3 on the card at Flemington.
SOMETHING VIOLET is 2nd up from a spell here going around at the big odds of 23.00 / 5.00 and we feel it is a very big chance of overturning it’s more fancied rivals.
The 3yo Commands filly tried to make all last time out in what has developed into a very strong form race. She battled on OK after a tough on pace trip to finish 7th beaten 4.9l behind Crown Witness who we have rated as the other seen major contender here along with SOMETHING VIOLET.
Her Moonee Valley win on debut over Prepare To Win and Prosecution back in early February was full of class. She was totally dominant that day suggesting there was plenty more to come.
Her next start was over 1100m down the Flemington straight just as she takes on today but 100m shorter and she was on pace for a long way before dropping out, the run was too bad to believe.
Next time out in her penultimate start at the end of last preparation she was only beaten 1.9l behind Time Awaits when trying to make all, once again a run full of hidden merit.
SOMETHING VIOLET gets in superbly weighted after the claim for Chris Casserta, if she gets the right trip on the front end she will prove super hard to run down in deep stretch with the featherweight 51kg impost.
Flemington R3 .#5 Something Violet – each way at 23.00 / 5.00
