Late Mail UK for Wednesday 28 June

We’re back with more Late Mail action on Wednesday for UK Racing. We will kick off covering the meetings from Carlisle and Salisbury during the day. There will also be potential coverage of evening cards from Bath along with Kempton on the AW and not to forget Naas in Ireland.

Carlisle 3.00 #10 Purple Rock 26.00 / 5.50 & #16 Admiral’s Sunset 26.00 / 5.50 – good value betting race with plenty of value to be had, leaning towards Purple Rock on top here at the big each way odds of 26.00 / 5.50, comes into this race having its 4th run of the season, prepared to forgive last two starts including down the track 2 starts ago as a 7/4 favorite, go on 1st up effort 3 starts ago close 2nd to Zain Arion over 12f at York, only beaten 1.5l and put a big 6l margin back to 3rd, form out of the race reads strong, on a repeat will prove hard to hold out here at the big price, also worth backing the lightly tried staying prospect Admiral’s Sunset who comes into this race 3rd up for the season having only its 9th career start, finished 2nd three starts on end tail end of last season and the form out of those races has since stood up nicely, look to have come on significantly winning 2 starts ago having its first start of 2017 by 7l in a small 4 horse field, form deceivingly strong out of that race, good hidden merit, gets into this only 1lb higher in the ratings after that win taking into account 3lb claim for Charlie Bennett, warrants backing also at the big price of 26.00 / 5.50.

Carlisle 3.30 #11 Briyouni 21.00 / 4.50 & #16 Zoravan 26.00 / 5.50 – another very good value betting race on the Carlisle card to be get stuck into here, Briyouni is a relatively lightly raced type that has been below its best in 3 runs this season but the 4yo Siyouni gelding gets 1st time check pieces here which may spark sharp improvement, Doncaster 2nd’s at the end of 2016 put him right in this, now on a rating 2lb below most recent Doncaster 2nd, very good value here as a 21.00 / 4.50 chance, also worth backing the well bred type Zoravan which is by More Than Ready out of the Danehill Dancer mare Zaralanta who herself was a lightly raced winner 1 from 7 and looked low level stakes class on the make in her short career, from a good Aga Khan family, has been below par its last 4 starts including a totally unsuitable race last time out when tried over 10.5f at Chester, go on Doncaster win 5 starts ago when making all over 7f to win by 1.5l in a 21 horse field, was strong thru the line that day suggesting it can get 8f strongly, pedigree suggests same, only 1lb higher in the ratings compared to that Doncaster win, ticks a few boxes for a 26.00 / 5.50 chance. Speck both Briyouni and Zoravan on an each way basis for a result across the race.

Salisbury 3.40 #2 Great Sound 2.80 – hard to go past the superbly bred Galileo colt Great Sound here, out of the Danehill Dancer mare Wanna who herself is a 3/4 relation to high class G1 winning Danehill mare Wannabe Grand, comes into this race having its 2nd career start on the back of breaking its maiden tag on debut over 12f at Chepstow on soft going, was slowly away that day and dropped out early to the rear looking very green, put under pressure 4f out and eventually picked up to put the race to bed very quickly, clearly best running away from its foes in an on pace dominated affair, looks stakes class on the make and this the logical next step, goes around as a 2.80 chance, we have it rated as the clear cut top elect at 2.60, realistically is a NAP quality Win bet.

Carlisle 4.00 #3 Aurora Butterfly 9.00 / 2.50 & #8 Isabel’s On It 7.00 / 2.40 – good value and confidence betting race here, got the feeling the betting market is wrong here making Bletchley the early market leader, two others in the form of Aurora Butterfly and Isabel’s On It look to have more scope and the necessary current form to suggest they might prove too good for the short price favorite here, Aurora Butterfly broke its maiden last time out but the run to go on is its debut 2nd to Bengalia, that effort suggested it was stakes quality on the make and its last start maiden victory merely saw the penny drop, has been given 7 weeks off since then with this race in mind, Isabel’s On It was very good last start breaking its maiden tag by 4l at Lingfield, that win merely suggested it had improved again on its very promising placings the prior 3 starts, looks stakes class on the make, back both Aurora Butterfyl & Isabel’s On It both to win for a result across the race.

Salisbury 4.40 #5 Takatul 5.50 / 2.30 – very well bred type by Smart Strike out of an Orpen mare who has already got 2 lightly tried high class stakes horses in the form of Farmah and Intilaaq, both wide margin G3 winners in short careers for the same connections as Takatul, this one comes in here having its 4th start for 2017 and looked to have genuine excuses last start below par effort at Newmarket on soft going, also of note has been given 5 weeks to get over that run, high merit win the start prior suggesting back to the level that saw it win first 3 career starts on end in 2016, lightly raced winner 4 from 8 who looks potential minor stakes class on the make, good scope for more, we have it rated as the clear top elect as a 3.50 chance, excellent value on offer as a 5.50 chance.
