Manchester ITF Semi Final – Broady vs Dias
23 year old Kazakhstanian Zarina Diyas looks to continue her current winning streak and significant progression since returning from a 8 month enforced break in February, she had been off the scene since she lost in the 1st round at Wimbledon in 2016. She is the 1.44 favorite here to dispose of Naomi Broady and progress through to the final and that price of 1.44 does seem good value.
Diyas has only dropped 11 games in 6 sets of tennis progressing through to the semis and she has been up against a stronger line up of players compared to the caliber of those that Broady has faced in her 3 rounds so far where she has struggled to really assert or dominate. She (Broady) will find Ziyas a totally different level here to what she has previously played.
Diyas prior to her enforced break had got as high as 31 in the world back in January 2015, she is younger, fitter, hungrier and has achieved already more in her career than her 27yo opponent Naomi Broady.

Manchester ITF Semi Final – Sabalenka vs Krunic
Interesting match up here with the more experienced 24 year old Russian Aleksandra Krunic being installed as the outright favorite in betting for this match at 1.44 but we are leaning towards the 19 year old rising star from Belarus, Aryna Sabalenka thinking she is a big chance of causing an upset here and winning through to the final at the very good odds of 2.62.
Sabalenka is a youngster who had a bullet next to her name in the rankings last year rising from 548 in the world at the end of 2015 to 155 in the world at the end of 2016 and she peaked recently in May of 2017 at 114 in the world, so her upward spiral has progressed so far in 2017 and it looks as though she has well and truly bought that same level of form to the Grass at Manchester.
She has fought through 3 tough wins over the highly touted Kuzmova followed by her 3 set come back win over Andreescu who was 20 and 4 in 2017 followed up by a Quarter final win over the 114 ranked Anna Blinkova who is one of the hottest properties in womens tennis lurking just outside the top 100. No doubting Sabalenka has been pushed in 3 tough matches but she is young, fit and very hungry, she would already be thinking she is a real live chance to win the title if she gets through here. This is definitely the stronger semi.
Krunic has been clinical on paper in the last 2 rounds after being pushed to 3 sets in the 1st round but the fact she has been pushed to a 6-4 set in both of her last 2 rounds when winning in straight sets verse players of much lower current ability and form compared to Sabalenka is a major concern. Sabalenka is a different proposition to Krunic’s last 2 opponents.
This will likely develop into a tough 3 set tussle but we think Sabalenka as a minimum is a 50% chance here, probably 55% chance, her true odds should be about 1.82, bookies are offering 2.62 about Aryna Sabalenka to win, thats very good value about a player with plenty of upside that is in career best form.
