We are back with another edition of Late Mail tips for Australian racing on Tuesday. Some decent action around and a few runners at big odds well worth nibbling at. Follow us throughout the day right here.
Pakenham R4 #7 Vanitoso 3.50 – deceivingly well bred type by Street Boss out of a Danehill mare who was a good class stakes performer in her own right, comes into this race on the back of finishing 2nd last time out when 1st up from a spell over 1100m at Bendigo on soft going, put a big 4.5l margin back to 3rd that day, form references stack up strongly out of the race, we have it rated as a 3.00 chance, currently on offer at 3.50.
Corowa R1 #14 Galea 26.00 / 5.00 & #15 Perez 51.00 / 11.00 – big value betting affair, playing the value angle backing 2 at big odds here, Galea carries a good speed pedigree by Helmet out of a Umatilla mare, very good 2 starts ago over 1000m on this track, solid Victorian form prior, must be played each way at the big odds of 26.00 & 5.00, also worth nibbling each way at Perez who also carries a good speed pedigree by Lope De Vega out of a Zedrich mare, her 3rd to Oak Door on debut was not hopeless and she is on a quick 7 day back up here with blinkers 1st time, enough to warrant specking at the huge odds on offer, back both each way for a result across the race.
Pakenham R6 #6 Turfonic 9.50 / 2.80 & #10 Fleurieu 101.00 / 23.00 – another big value betting affair worth playing, Turfonic is the major value pick here, represents the astute Hayes yard and drops back to a very winnable level for this 1st up tilt, winner 2 from 10 in short career and very good when right, interesting stable has it 1st up over this trip and that fact suggests it is ready to fire here, on best form should prove hard to hold out, back each way as the major elect, also worth nibbling at 100/1 pop Fleurieu on an each way basis here, gets a cross over nose band 1st time, significant gear change on the back of 2 dismal runs this preparation, loves the Pakenham synthetic surface, ticks a few boxes here for a runner going around at the ridiculously big price of 101.00 / 23.00, nibble at each way in support of the top elect.
Pakenham R7 #9 Bagrat Bullet 12.00 / 3.60 – 2nd up from a spell fitter now on the back of a good 2nd at Kilmore 1st up last time out, decent form references out of those finishing further back adds merit to that performance, has finished 2nd 3 times from 3 goes on the Pakenham synthetic track, drawn wide but good speed should see it able to slot in midfield or slightly further back, equally effective stalking or closing from off the pace, barrier no major disadvantage, warrants each way backing at the good odds on offer of 12.00 / 3.60.
Pakenham R9 #3 Riley’s Rocket 13.00 / 3.90 – winner 6 of 15 so far in short career and goes well 1st up from a spell although best form is over further, good speed in this race should ensure it gets every chance to close off hard from off the pace in deep stretch, decently weighted after the 2kg claim, resumed vs similar last preparation on this track with a strong 2nd in a good form race, warrants minor specking on an each way basis as the value elect at the 13.00 / 3.90 on offer.
