Super Netball Preliminary Final Preview – Melbourne Vixens vs Giants Netball, Saturday 10 June at Hisense Arena
The Melbourne Vixens come into this Preliminary Final after surrendering a home Grand Final opportunity and a week off by going down to the Sunshine Coast Lightning last week by 1 goal. Instead they face a sudden death Preliminary Final here against Giants Netball on Saturday night at Hisense Arena.
The Vixens are a young side that has taken all before them this season with fearless attacking play. That factor of their game was not on display last week against Sunshine Coast Lightning but the Vixens will learn a lot from that outing and at home will be more likely to get back to their natural attacking game here in a do or die sudden death encounter.
The Vixens have a familiarity together that has been honed through junior and feeder levels that has really tightened up with the addition of Mwai Kumwenda as goal shooter. That factor will serve them well here at home in this home Preliminary Final.
The Vixens will need to close down a versatile Giants attack and they swept through to a 59-51 win in Round 6 doing just that.
Sharelle McMahon a former club captain and champion herself noted that the Vixens did sense nerves among the line up before last weeks loss to Sunshine Coast Lightning last week and that has been worked on during the week. They should overcome their nerves here at home.
Both semis last week were decided by one goal in tight games, Vixens are at home here and have more upside coming into this game off a dull performance that was well below par last week.
It going to be tight but the Vixens have the edge, the best way to bet this market is to take the Melbourne Vixens to win by 1-10 goals at the odds of 2.10 in the Margins market.
Back Melbourne Vixens to win by 1-10 goals @ 2.10 (Margins Market)
