After a very successful period for Late Mail fans of late we back up for another round of Late Mail for Australian racing on Thursday. A good bank of blackbook horses are set to run which will offer up plenty of depth in our selections across the day.
Wyong R1 #1 Dashing Special 7.00 / 2.50 – very well bred type by High Chaparral out of the Zabeel mare Di Falco, looks as though the penny has finally dropped for this 3yo gelding who comes into this race on the back of an 11l space job trial win at Rosehill, form references stack up strongly out of the beaten brigade to suggest this one is city class on the make as a minimum, takes on the 1350m trip 1st up here which totally suits on the back of that wide margin trial win, excellent value early fixed odds as a 7.50 & 2.50 chance each way, we have it rated clear cut on top as a 2.10 chance, decent confidence win betting proposition, although only 2 place dividends are on offer here the 2.50 to finish 1st/2nd seems is a good confidence vs value betting proposition.
Pakenham R2 #7 Blazers 3.00 – comes into this race 2nd up from a spell on the back of finishing 7.9l 4th at Cranbourne on debut over 1400m, the first 2 put a big gap back to 3rd that day but the form coming out of the race for those finishing around Blazers reads strong, the 3yo Fastnet Rock filly was doing her best work through the line that day, she steps to 1600m fitter 2nd up and gets winkers 1st time, that suggests scope for plenty more, on bare exposed form she looks the one to beat, the 3.00 on offer early may look like luxury odds by the time this race is run and won, back to win with a decent degree of confidence, take the price early as we do expect it to start shorter come post time.
With Wyong abandoned we are calling it an early end for today.
