A good card of racing action comes to us from Moonee Valley on Saturday and our team of form analysts have put their eye over the form to highlight the best betting opportunities across the card for you.
Moonee Valley R4 #4 The Passage $3.3 – Strong win two runs back by 2.25l at Warrnambool when stepped up to 1400m for the first time. Then went to Flemington last start and up to 1600m when had no luck beaten only 1.75l. Stays at 1600m here and meets a similar field. Drawn well in gate 4 so should be able to settle in behind the speed and enjoy the gun run. Looks a progressive type from the Weir yard and should continue to improve having had only the 5 career starts. He looks a handy type on the up and in a race that lacks depth and quality he should be winning this with all the favours.
Moonee Valley R5 #8 Mr Individual $6.5/$2.3– Happy to forgive the run of Mr Individual last start when wasn’t ideally suited at Flemington over 1400m. He was very good two runs back over 1600m when not beaten far by a smart one. Jumps back to the 1600m here which will suit and is a winner 5 from 18 career starts. Looks to be enough speed on paper for him to be getting home and from gate 7 should enjoy a good run throughout. Gets in well after the claim and in an open race looks the value runner.
Moonee Valley R6 #13 Themis $8/$3 – Themis is having his 3rd start for new stable after running a career best last start at Sandown. Jumps from 1300m to 1500m here which looks ideal, drawn well in gate 5 so should settle in behind the speed for a gun run. There doesn’t look to be any world beaters here so she only needs to continue her natural improvement to give this a massive shake. She ticks all the box’s today and can break through for overdue win.
Moonee Valley R9 #3 Highland Beat $9/$3.1 – We think we have found one here in the last that can send us home a winner. Highland Beat has finished 9th and 8th respectively but his form is a lot better than it reads if you dig a little deeper. First up he got well back in a race dominated on speed and hit the line well recording some of the fastest late sectionals. He was second up into last start when 8th but only beaten 2.2l. He had absolutely no luck that day when checked on turn and held up down the straight and never really clear. Katsuro and Run Gypsy Run come out of the same race and are well in the market here, it could be debated that Highland Beat should of won last start against this pair. His form through last prep looks strong for this and has leading jockey Craig Williams aboard. He will get back from a wide gate in a race that looks to have a genuine tempo. They are likely to be running on late in the day at Moonee Valley so it will suit him out wide and out of trouble. Look for him charging late at what looks over the odds.
Big Value Double Play
Moonee Valley R3 #14 Little Indian $13/$3.9 #12 NiminyPiminy $51/$13 – In what looks a very open race outside of the obvious favourite we think we have found couple worth specking at big value. Little Indian resumes off a 112 day break and has performed well fresh in the past. She ran a super 4th fresh last start when not much luck over 1000m then went on to win 2nd up by 1.75l when very impressive again over the 1000m at Flemington. She then went on to be super competitive in much stronger races throughout last prep. Drawn well in gate 7 here in a race that looks to have plenty of speed. Ticks a lot of box’s here for a horse at double figures. Niminypiminy also resumes and is another who was competitive in tougher races last prep without actually breaking though. She is a winner fresh and placed at only go 1000m. Drawn well in gate 6 and with plenty of speed on has the ability fresh to be hitting the line hard late, blowout hope! Little Indian looks a solid each/way bet here at juicy odds. Worth nibbling Niminypiminy at massive odds with a little extra the place.
