Our analysts will be picking the eyes out of the Sha Tin card on Wednesday to bring you a full card preview of all the best betting angles right across the 8 race card which kicks off at 9.15pm AEST on Wednesday evening and concludes just before 1am into Thursday morning.
Sha Tin R5 #9 Goldie Flanker $3.3 – Been super impressive winning two on end coming from well back in the field with blistering runs. Looks suited again here over the 1200m in a race that looks to have plenty of speed in it. He drops back to a class 5 here after winning in class 4 company last start. This race lacks depth and now he has found winning form he should continue on his winning ways in another suitable race.
Sha Tin R8 #3 Royal Performer $2.6 – Should of won last start this track, trip and class and meets similar opposition here. A model of consistency in his races and has an enormous upside having had only 7 career starts. Drawn ideally in gate 4 so should just settle in behind the speed where comfortable. Ticks all the box’s here and with leading jockey aboard should be sending us home a winner here in the last.
Sha Tin R3 #6 Respect $4/$1.73 – Strong through the line last start over 1200m fresh when had to do some work early and only beaten a length. The winner from that race looks a handy type so the form lines look strong. He races well this track and trip and should strip fitter here second up. Joao Moreira stays aboard and should get the gun run on the speed in a race that lacks pace. He will be the one they have to run down with 150m to go, will they catch him? We don’t think so.
Sha Tin R6 #1 Big Flash $3.2 – Jumped in Class last start and had little luck from an awkward draw so very happy to forgive that run. Was very impressive two runs back when winning at only second race in Hong Kong. He has now won 3 of 5 career starts including two in New Zealand. He looks a progressive type and might just be too good for them here. Freshened for this, drops back in grade and suited back to 1200m. Drawn awkwardly but with good pace drawn underneath him should see him slot in for a nice trail throughout. He has plenty of scope this guy and should be too strong for them late.
Sha Tin R2 #6 Holy Unicorn $12/$3.9 – Forget last start over 2200m when caught 3 wide throughout. Freshened and suited back to the 1800m here. Looking for first career win like most of these but is rarely far from the money. Likely to go back from gate 10 which won’t be an issue. Put in career best performance first up this prep when charged late this track and trip when drew gate 11. Looks to get his chance in a race that lacks depth and warrants each-way backing at a value price.
Sha Tin R4 #11 Curling Luxury $8/$2.88 – Forgive last start when luckless, a model of consistency at three runs prior. This race is void of any great pace and he looks the one from gate 2 who will get the dream run throughout. Drawn well in gate 2 and gets further weight relief after the claim for Jack Wong. Looked the winner two runs back in a similar race when only overrun late. Yet to register first career win but won’t get a better opportunity than this to break through. Looks super each-way value and a bigger place bet is suggested.
Sha Tin R7 #4 Friends Of Ka Ying $7.5/$2.5 – Been super competitive in his last 4 starts and in a race with limited chances he might just be the one at a decent price to get the job done. There looks very good speed in the race which will suit him and the drop back to 1650m looks ideal. His form around People’s Knight and Little Dragon ties in very well. He loos to have found a suitable race to break back into the winners circle.
RACE IN TWO
Sha Tin R1 #7 Cool Brothers $9.50/$3 & #5 Smart Union $21/$5.1 – There looks to plenty of value in the first race on the card at Hong Kong to back our top two hopes for a result across the race. Cool Brothers was super two runs back when hitting the line strong over the shorter 1600m, then last start didn’t have the clearest of runs when stuck down on the fence at first go over 1800m. He will have benefited greatly from that run and looks ready to win. Smart Union was solid through the line last start over 1650m and will appreciate the rise in trip here. He is 3rd up coming into this event so should be ready to show best. He doesn’t win out of turn but in a race that lacks major depth he might just be the blowout chance at big odds. He should settle close from an inside draw and might be worth a go the place bet at around the $5.1. Back both for a result across the race, plenty of place betting value to be had also.
