Late Mail Australia for Wednesday 31 May

Wednesday is shaping up as a strong day of trading action around Australia. We will be bringing you all of the latest tips and late mail right across the course of Wednesday. All the latest information will be added right here as we work our way through another afternoon of endless form study and countless winners.

Ipswich R1 #6 Darktown Strutter 3.50 – strong 2yo speed pedigree by I Am Invincible out of a Desert Sun mare, comes into this race having its 2nd career start and 1st up from a spell on the back of running 2.3l 2nd to Club Soda in an 840m trial at Doomben, form refs through the beaten brigade since franked to a major degree, if it runs up to that level here will prove the one to beat. We have it rated on top as a 3.30 and currently being bet at 3.50, minor overs but decent confidence.

Ipswich R2 #5 Sunny Victory 4.80 & #6 Jackpot 5.50 – we have got this race down to only 2 seen chances and surprisingly they are both at good enough odds to back both of them to win for a result across the race. At 4.80 & 5.50 they occupy only 39% approx of the betting market which means we are getting combined odds of approx 2.50, realistically they shape as holding a 55% chance between them which equates to odds of 1.82. Excellent overs to be offered 2.50 about a 1.80 chance, good overs and strong confidence betting race.

Ipswich R3 #6 Divine Unicorn 5.00 & 2.00 – very well bred type by hot young sire Lope De Vega out of the consistent producing Barathea mare Inchberry, big advantage drawn the inside gate here making its race debut, NH bred 3yo who comes into this race on the back of winning 3 trials on end including a 2.5l score at Deagon, put big gaps back through the rest of that trial field and the form refs stand up left right and center suggesting this one is well up to winning a maiden of this level, clear cut top rated contender rated as a 3.00 chance so the 5.00 on offer is very good overs. Excellent value vs confidence Place bet offered up at 2.00 to finish top 3.

Strathalbyn R2 #12 Scottish Thread 3.80 & #10 Bajan 11.00 & 3.00 – another good confidence vs value betting race here where we can back 2 runners to win for a result across the race. Scottish Thread qualifies as the major elect here, comes into this race having its 2nd career start, was very good prior to debut strong trial 3rd (11 starters) to our Witness holding sway over some smart types further back in that good trial, sure to have come on since debut 4th 10 days ago, natural improvement makes it the major pick here, also worth backing Bajan in support of the top elect, the deceivingly well bred type is bred for speed by Barbados (Redoute’s Choice * Virage De Fortune) out of a Danehill Dancer mare, total forgive run on debut at Clare last time out, very good 0.2l trial 2nd prior to that suggests well up to winning maiden of this level, must be backed each way at 11.00 & 3.00 in support of top elect Scottish Thread which can be backed to win at the good odds of 3.80.

Pakenham R2 #5 My Mother Says 12.00 & 3.80 – overly well bred type by Smart Missile out of a Mossman mare, won a trial prior to debut on heavy going back in October 2016 over Lone Eagle and Cao Cao, that form has since been franked to a major degree with Lone Eagle 2nd then running 2nd to Cliff’s Edge on debut in a $100K 2yo handicap whilst 3rd home Cao Cao then ran 2nd in the Listed Maribyrnong before winning next start at Moonee Valley for an $80K purse, has since been very good finishing 3rd in two good quality trials in preparation for return here, excellent value each way at 12.00 & 3.80.

Ipswich R4 #3 Salmanazar 3.00 – well bred lightly raced improver by Encosta De Lago out of the G3 winning Flying Spur mare Maslin’s Beach, blinkers go on 1st time for this 3rd up run and stretches out to 1570m after flashing big closing pars last time out over 1200m on soft going at the Gold Coast when just failing to run down potentially above average type Jackpot, was only beaten 0.6l, form references out of that race read super strong and looks likely to improve significantly again here which will make it super hard to beat here, clear cut top rated contender rated as a 2.70 chance, currently on offer at 3.00, back with a good degree of confidence.

Strathalbyn R3 #2 Our Witness 7.50 & 2.30 & #10 Magic Strykes 13.00 & 3.40 – a very good value betting race on offer here with our 2 selections Our Witness (top rated) at 7.50 & 2.30 whilst the 2nd top rated contender Magic Strykes is also big value at 13.00 & 3.40. Our Witness looked potential city class winning a trial prior to the start of this prep by 1.9l over Regal Grove, total forgive run 1st up, if it can reproduce that trial form it will prove hard to hold out here, 2nd elect Magic Strykes produced a very good trial 3rd to Pucheon Journey prior to failing 1st up behind Storm Fox, once again run too bad to believe, form refs out of trial 3rd through Melody Queen 2nd suggests right up to testing Storm Fox and on that basis and above average breeding must be included here.

Strathalbyn R4 #5 Go Arrivederci 10.00 & 3.00 & #13 Tequila Flyer 21.00 & 5.50 – no doubting the even money favorite Clonmel looks an above average type but this is a big field and he draws wide with an apprentice hoop on board, both Go Arrivederci and Tequila Flyer are both well bred lightly raced types with recent form to suggest they are well up to winning a race of this nature if the favorite is even slightly off its game, Go Arrivederci which is the major chance of overturning the short priced fav is 10.00 & 3.00 whilst Tequila Flyer is 21.00 & 5.50, nibble at both of them for a result across the race.

Ipswich R6 #8 Desirable Miss 6.50 & 2.10 & #7 Delirium 26.00 & 5.80 – playing the value angle here backing both Desirable Miss & Delirium to overturn the short priced favorite Fabvier. Desirable Miss looked very good winning 1st up over this track and distance 2 starts ago and that was on the back of an even more impressive trial win at Deagon, prepared to overlook last start 4th, on a quick 7 day back up, formerly very smart in Sydney, back as the major chance of overturning the short priced fav, also worth backing the lightly tried Exceed And Excel filly Delirium who tried to make all 1st up last start and dropped out, forgive the run, was very impressive start of last preparation winning two on end on this track, draws the 2 alley and likely for one of the runs of the race, huge value each way at 26.00 & 5.80, back in support of Desirable Miss for a result across the race.

Strathalbyn R5 #3 Centenary Shot 6.50 & 2.40 & #13 Alexis Jet 41.00 & 11.00 – some very good value to be had in this race, Centenary Shot is the top elect here, deceivingly well bred type by Soldier’s Tale out of a Scenic mare and breed tend to improve as they stretch out in trip and that is very likely for this one being out of a Scenic (Sadler’s Wells) mare especially after flashing big closing pars 1st up two starts ago when 4th to Pass A Glance at Mt Gambier, Naracoorte 2000m win 5 starts ago is the best exposed form line in the race and being a lightly raced staying prospect offers good scope for more, at the good odds of 6.50 back as the major elect, also worth nibbling at Alexis Jet on an each way basis who is bred to be well above average by Bernardini out of the smart Royal
Academy mare Patpong, looked potentially smart early in career and finally put it all together winning by a widening margin at Pt Augusta 2 starts ago over 1500m, every chance there is more to come and if it can produce it here then it can shake the life out of this race at a huge price, nibble at each way at the big odds of 41.00 & 11.00 in support of top elect Centenary Shot.

Ipswich R7 #2 Tamrookum 7.00 & 2.50 & #1 Constantine 9.00 & 3.00 – good confidence vs value betting affair here where the clear cut top 2 rated contenders occupy a total of 26% of the better market at the odds of 7.00 & 9.00 respectively, we have them rated a combined 2.20 chance but we are getting closer to the 3.90 mark which is very good overs about a strong confidence betting combination. Takrookum rates slightly in front of Constantine here with a clear gap to 3rd so back both to win for a result across the race.
